Internal Auditor, Sr. Essential Job Function: Under the general guidance of the Internal Audit Manager or Supervisor, the Senior Auditor performs operational, financial and compliance audits in assigned areas and functions. This is a generic description designed to accommodate all Internal Audit Senior Auditor positions. Job functions may vary slightly from position to position within the various offices.Responsibilities:
Performs the audit review. Duties include interviewing auditees, developing work papers and documentation of audit findings, identification of causes or contributing factors relating to problems or control weaknesses.
Follows through on implementation of audit recommendations agreed upon by auditee management, as directed by Internal Audit Manager.
Performs audit follow-ups to previously completed audits.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Performs background investigations as necessary. Interviews appropriate personnel.
Determines data requirements. Accumulates, verifies and analyzes available data. Observe and evaluates actual operating procedures. Identifies existing or potential problem areas.
Develops the audit-planning memorandum, which outlines the pending audit based on the information gathered.
Drafts audit programs as necessary to ensure complete analysis of assigned areas.
Develops appropriate recommendations for solution or improvement of any problems or control deficiencies uncovered.
Drafts audit reports detailing findings and recommendations. Reviews with audit management.
Finalizes audit reports for Internal Audit management's review and issuance.
Participates in the exit conference review of findings and recommendations with the appropriate management personnel.
Organizes and compiles final work papers for file maintenance and reference.Preferred Skills/Education:
College degree from a 4 -ear college or university or equivalent, Accounting or Finance degree preferred. CPA or CIA candidate preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in a financial institution, public accounting, or internal auditing. Mortgage banking experience preferred.
Excellent PC skills, including knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet preparation (Microsoft Windows95, Word and Excel a plus).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
