INTERNAL AUDITOR/
SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
A search is being conducted for an Internal Auditor/Senior Staff Accountant for the Universities Space Research Association (USRA); a non-profit organization operating scientific institutes and programs with headquarters located in Columbia, Maryland.
This position will perform financial, operational and compliance audits, and will provide consultation to management throughout the organization including reporting responsibility to the Audit Committee of the board of Trustees. General responsibilities include assessing risk, developing audit plans and programs, performing audits, evaluating and reporting on the internal controls of the organization.
This position will also provide senior-level corporate accounting support and will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of year-end audit schedules, USRA's annual Federal tax return, and other compliance requirements.
Education/Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline, and minimum of 5 years auditing, compliance management, and/or consulting experience, or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience. Certification or advanced degree preferable (CPA, MBA). Ideal candidate will have non-profit government contracting experience and strong working knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and A-133.
Travel will be required - approx. 15-20%. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills are essential.
