Grants and Government Accountant

If you want a challenging and rewarding career; join us and make a difference.The Grants and Government Accountant ensures the timely and accurate accounting and reporting for all grants and awards making certain we comply with all grant requirements. Works closely with the Director, Grant Administration to provide budget vs. actual expense comparison along with an explanation of any variances. This position also must interpret and provide oral and written guidance on the contractual and financial requirements of United Way's three government campaigns. It assists with the development of the annual budget preparation and is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting including monthly financial statements, comparison of budget vs. actual expenses and variances, designation payouts, bank reconciliations and other G/L account reconciliations as required. In addition this position maintains United Way's fixed assets inventory, assists with the preparation of th organizations's annual budget and performs other accounting work as required.
REQUIREMENTS
BA degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years accounting experience. Demonstrated grant administration experience and experienced with automated accounting systems is required. Must be at an advance level in Excel spreadsheet application and be able to utilize Microsoft Word. Possess excellent customer service skills, pay extreme attention to detail and be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent follow-through.
