Financial Planning Assistant
Albuquerque Fee-Based Financial Planning firm seeks a full-time
financial planner assistant/income tax preparer. We are a small
firm with about 80 clients and work together as professionals in
a friendly team environment, which requires a high level of work
independence. The team includes a director of operations, a
bookkeeper, another financial-planning assistant, and myself, a
CPA CFP ® who is the Registered Principal of this OSJ office.
Every day is different. We are involved with all kinds of
financial and life decisions facing our clients. We analyze
business operations, rental and housing purchases, charitable
planning strategies, sustainable spending amounts, and even serve
as a sounding board on client decisions.
The Job Duties
You will prepare the analysis for investment reviews, complete
investment forms, place trades, update files, write
correspondence and do related clerical tasks.
You will meet with some clients of the firm, presenting
investment reviews and financial plan updates and possibly giving
speeches in the community on financial planning-related topics.
You will also assist with or prepare income tax returns.
The Job Requirements
We require a minimum of 2 years of tax preparation experience and
a years experience in the financial services industry, along with
a Series 7 license. We will consider an exceptional unlicensed
candidate provided they get licensed within 6 months of hire date.
The Skills Needed
Ideally, you would be familiar with income tax and financial
planning concepts, products, software, and procedures. Other
skills desired include computer experience with a proficiency in
Excel. The ability to work in an entrepreneurial work environment
is crucial. This means that you may receive changes in priorities
more than once a day.
The Candidate we are seeking
We are seeking an individual who is energetic, responsible, and
able to work independently, managing many different tasks
simultaneously. A high moral and ethical standard, along with a
strong work ethic, is expected.
You will need to be a person who is organized, professional,
extremely detail-oriented and client-centered with excellent
interpersonal skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Above all, you will need to have the desire and ability to learn
new skills.
