Financial Coordinator (Westside Region) - (LP32668-2959-CA)
Financial CoordinatorSummary: The Financial Coordinator provides insurance support to the dialysis facilities to help retain patients. The Financial Coordinator is responsible to provide guidance and information to patients on insurance and the implication of different insurance options allowing the patient to make informed insurance decisions. The Financial Coordinator’s focus will include ensuring that commercial patients’ insurance questions are addressed and resolved; securing secondary coverage for Medicare No Secondary patients; and assisting underinsured and uninsured / pending coverage patients with eligibility and / or coverage options.
The Financial Coordinator is required to provide accurate and timely patient, revenue and treatment trend reporting using computer programs and other systems available within DaVita.
Qualifications:
1) Preferably 2+ years experience in a healthcare organization working with clinical staff and patients
2) Basic understanding of commercial insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity)
3) Strong foundation in Medicare and Medicaid insurance coverage
4) Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through
5) Strong, proven interpersonal, and written communication skills
6) Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize, and the ability to multi-task effectively
7) Effective problem solving skills
8) Ability to provide multi-level reporting and communication
9) Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint)

Travel will be required to facilities in assigned territory (50-75%).
Essential Job Functions:
Insurance Retention (90%):
Overall:
1) Proactively build relationships with patients
2) Act as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing office and the corporate office to resolve patient insurance issues and/or concerns
3) Identify, resolve or escalate issues as appropriate for prompt and effective resolution
4) Ensure patients have full coverage
5) Support patient collection activities as necessary
6) Support Social Workers with AKF applications as necessary
Patient Interaction – Medicare No Secondary (35%)
1) Assist Medicare patients with securing secondary insurance coverage
2) Understand timing by state to secure secondary coverage for patients under 65 years
3) Support completion of Patient Financial Evaluation to determine if cash repayment is an option
Patient Interaction – Commercial Patients (30%)
1) Assist patients in retaining commercial insurance coverage and reviewing additional insurance options for primary and/or secondary coverage
2) Support field teammates through research of commercial patients’ financial issues and insurance options
3) Provide high-level of customer service to commercial patients ensuring patient needs are met
Patient Interaction – Medicare / Uninsured (20%)
1) Support Medicare patients as necessary with financial questions
2) Support completion of Patient Financial Evaluation to determine if payment or payment arrangements are an option
Building Relationships with Internal Constituents (ROD, FA/CD) (5%)
1) Proactively build relationships with clinical and regional resources to emphasize and integrate Insurance Management priorities
2) Partner with Social Workers to maintain awareness of patient insurance questions
3) Proactively review patient lists with Facility Administrators/Center Directors and teammates to identify potential patient insurance issues
Reporting (10):
1) Provide extensive monthly reporting and analysis on key metrics related to patient growth and retention to senior management
2) Compile monthly operations reviews on his/her patient portfolio
