Finance Coordinator (Grants & Contracts)-Research Institute*
In 1991, two of San Francisco's oldest and most respected medical institutions, Pacific Presbyterian Hospital and Children's Hospital of San Francisco, merged to form California Pacific Medical Center. Davies Medical Center joined in 1998 and became the center's third campus. Today, with its 1,254 licensed acute care beds and 25 residential beds, California Pacific Medical Center is one of the largest private, not-for-profit academic medical centers in California. California Pacific Medical Center affiliated with Sutter Health in 1996 and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.Serving more than 200,000 patients annually, California Pacific Medical Center (located in beautiful San Francisco) provides a wide variety of services including: acute hospital care, a full range of post-acute care, home care and hospice services, outpatient medical care, and preventive, complementary, and educational services. The Medical Center also provides professional education and basic biomedical, clinical and behavioral research. Today, with its 1,254 licensed acute care beds and 25 residential beds, California Pacific Medical Center is one of the largest private, non-profit academic medical centers in California.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: (Position Summary)
The Finance Coordinator is responsible for the accounts payable functions and accuracy of the general ledgers in support of the Senior Research Analysts and the Administrative group of the Coordinating Center.
Job Duties
- Perform Ledger reconciliation of all Coordinating Center projects and administrative accounts;
- Review and process journal entries prepared by other staff
- Prepare and track SFCC invoicing, AR and purchase orders:
§ Vendor contracts
§ Independent consultant contracts
§ Subcontracts
§ UCSF Rent and Network invoices
§ Large value purchase orders - Computer Purchase Orders; Facilities orders.
- Ensures compliance with requirements of federal and state agencies, private foundations and other funders; ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles while performing all areas of work.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. BA/BS with a major in accounting, business administration, or a related field preferred. Two years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge:
- Prior experience with administration of research grants preferred
- Prior accounting/bookkeeping experience required
- Knowledge of federal Cost Accounting Standards preferred
- Prior experience working within University administrative offices and/or large research setting preferred
Skills:
- Excellent skills in communication (both written and oral) in the English language, organization, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task
- Ability to work with competing deadlines and numerous personalities with diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to work with moderate to little direct supervision.
- Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data. Familiarity with database management skills and ability to produce reports may be required.
- Able to work within deadlines in a complex, multi-task, challenging environment with strong attention to detail and excellent computer skills;
- Demonstrated mastery of spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting applications (MS Office, Word, Excel and Lawson preferred).
- Must have knowledge of basic computer hardware & configurations, and the desire to learn more
- Must have excellent math skills and understanding of standard accounting procedures
