JOB SUMMARY:
Health Net, Inc., one of the nation’s largest publicly traded managed care companies, is located in Woodland Hills, California (Warner Center).  The Statutory Reporting area is responsible for preparation of annual and quarterly statutory financial statement filings, reports (and related year-end audit and quarterly reviews), and other schedules and exhibits to the various state Departments of Insurance, Department of Managed Health Care and other regulatory agencies throughout the country.  This position requires excellent technical, analytical, communication and project management skills and an accounting or related business degree.  This position reports to the Statutory Reporting Director.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Preparation of the HNCA consolidated financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, surplus rollforward, cash flows, footnote disclosure and various other supporting and supplemental schedules and exhibits required with each filing.Preparation of audited financial statements for several entities, including HNCAPreparation of quarterly forecasts of RBC for HNCAPreparation of special reports and performance of special projects as requested by management

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting

Experience:At least five years’ experience preparing financial statements and audited financial statements on a consolidated basisDemonstrated proficiency in financial statement preparation, including preparation of cash flow statements and footnotes disclosure

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Thorough understanding of GAAP and proficiency with elimination entriesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsAdvanced knowledge of Excel, including proficiency with complex formulas and spreadsheet linkageProficiency with SAP and Word applications; proficiency with Essbase desirableProficiency with Risk Based Capital (RBC) calculationsDisplayed initiative, drive, teamwork and eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment
