Environmental Data Analyst
ERG is seeking a talented, motivated person interested in putting information technology to work for the environment. Two areas of expertise are crucial to this position: developing computer data systems and solving problems in environmental science and policy. Qualified candidates will have 1-3 years of experience in one area and be committed to building skills in the other.
Relevant experience with environmental science and policy includes
Research, technical work, or coursework on earth or natural science topics, or on the policy implications of such topics
Work for a government agency or other organization whose mission is to protect the environment
Relevant experience with computer data systems includes
Designing, programming, and deploying database centered and Web based applications
Performing data conversions and configuring software installations
Testing and quality assuring applications and data sets
Familiarity with some or all of the following:
Relational database systems – Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access
Programming languages/frameworks – SQL, HTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Java, Java Server Pages, Active Server Pages, PHP, ColdFusion, .NET
Candidates should thrive in a dynamic, fast paced workplace where creativity and a willingness to learn are essential. A bachelor's degree and excellent analytic and communication skills are required. Consulting experience (of any kind) is a plus.
