Director of International Tax

Its widely respected brands include ACNielsen, Nielsen Media Research, Billboard, Adweek, and The Hollywood Reporter, among many others.The Director - International Tax Planning will be based in our New York headquarters and report to the Senior Vice President - Tax located in New York. This candidate needs to have both inbound and outbound experience and also be exposed to highly sophisticated international tax planning techniques as well as having extensive exposure to US taxation issues. Issues covered will include foreign tax credit utilization, debt push down strategies, thin capitalization analysis, and experience with income tax treaty issues. The candidate will have oversight responsibility of the tax return as it relates to international tax filings (e.g. Form 5471, 1118, 8858, 8865 etc). In addition, this candidate will be responsible for the oversight of the international tax provision and have experience with FAS 109. This individual must be comfortable working with numbers and be capable of communicating effectively across all levels of management. This individual will interface with other members of the tax department, company senior management, outside auditors and outside external advisor's worldwide.1. International Tax Planning - Corporate Restructuring, US Tax analysis on foreign restructurings, foreign tax credit optimization, thin capitalization and debt push down planning, dividend repatriation planning.
2. International Tax Compliance (Oversight) - International tax filings including Form 1118, 5471, 8865, 8858 and Section 367 Statements.Qualifications
1. Minimum nine years experience in international tax planning.
2. Experience with both inbound and outbound international tax issues is a plus
3. Oversight of the international tax compliance process and oversight of international tax personnel
4. Interface with outside advisors to manage VNU's complex legal and tax structure
5. Interface with company outside auditors on international tax provision matters
6. Travel approximately 10 - 20%
7. Bachelor's degree is required, JD, LLM, or Masters in Taxation would be a plus
8. CPA would be a plus
