THE POSITION The Director of External Reporting coordinates and prepares all the Company’s annual and quarterly reports that are required to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Director is also responsible for certain corporate accounting transactions as well as some high level technical accounting analysis. This position is critical in ensuring that all reports filed or furnished with the SEC or disclosed publicly are in compliance with all applicable SEC regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The incumbent directs a staff of professionals that are responsible for specific areas in this function, this includes 3 direct reports and 1 indirect report. The incumbent reports to the Assistant Controller, External Reporting and Consolidations and supports the Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller. This position interacts with the CFO, investor relations, senior members of Legal, Tax, Corporate Finance, Environmental Affairs, as well as Benefits consultants and our external auditors. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities The Director, External Reporting will be responsible for the quarterly and annual external reporting process. Continuous improvement through the use of technology and available internal and external resources is a must. This vital position will be accountable for the accuracy of all external reports furnished or filed with the SEC and released to the public. The Director, External Reporting, will review all public disclosures containing financial information such as press releases, conference call scripts, investor presentations, etc. He/She will prepare all non-GAAP disclosures and will make certain that all such disclosures are in compliance with SEC regulations. This highly critical role will interact with auditors and ensures that all support is provided in an efficient manner and that all accounting matters are fully researched and documented for auditors. He/She will participate at disclosure committee meetings to ascertain all accounting matters are fully disclosed and full consideration is given to any items raised by committee members. This individual will be a participating member of the Environmental Committee that ensures proper accounting and disclosure of all environmental related matters. He/She will be responsible for the identification and disclosure of all material items and critical accounting estimates as required under SEC regulations. The Director, External Reporting will lead and develop a group of skilled and technically proficient professionals and will guarantee that the external reporting group maintains its professional competencies through training. He/She will implement new accounting pronouncements on an accurate and timely basis. This key individual will have primary responsibility for accounting for non routine transactions and certain corporate transactions such as restructuring, antitrust, impairments, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Chemtura intends to recruit a highly accomplished financial professional who has ten to fifteen years experience with a publicly traded company. This individual must have excellent supervisory and leadership skills with strong organizational skills. He/She must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and have superior technical accounting competency. The ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. He/She must possess the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions and the capabilities to handle multiple competing high priority tasks. The incumbent will have worked for a global company and will have partnered with the global business leaders to stay at the forefront of all upcoming business initiatives. The Director, External Reporting will be comfortable working in a team environment to meet the common goals and objectives of Chemtura Corporation. This role must be filled by an individual who is computer literate and experienced in reporting systems, ERP systems and Excel are a must. The successful individual must have must have an impeccable track record of success in a similar role with a world class company recognized in state-of-art reporting practices.
