Director, Outbound Distribution Center

JOB DESCRIPTION

A.Purpose and Scope

The Director of Outbound is responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all activities of the outbound distribution center function, including Picking, Packing, QC, and Shipping.

B.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·Directs all aspects of distribution outbound operation including picking, packing, manifesting, quality control and shipping of product to customers
·Ensures timely processing to meet quality initiatives for customers
·Develops appropriate processes, controls and performance measures to ensure that objectives are met
·Implements systems and processes that lead to continual improvement. Plans team projects to support process improvement.
·Oversees the operation of team equipment and ensures that it is operational, efficient and safe
·Ensures that all job duties are resourced, equipped and focused to accomplish department goals
·Responsible for developing training and safety procedures and the implementation process
·Provides leadership, direction, coaching and counseling to management team
·Manages the transportation of all products using the best sourcing for particular SKUs and customers
·Measures and reports on all departmental productivity and service level goals
·Determines best packaging methods and controls packaging supplies
REQUIREMENTS
JOB REQUIREMENTS

A.Qualifications
·Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree preferred
·A minimum of 10 years experience in Distribution Process Management, in a high SKU count / rapid turn environment
·Strong record of successful leadership performance and ability to motivate, train and manage
·Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
·Excellent problem solving / analytical skills and strong initiative are a must
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Ability to effectively interface with and influence people on both tactical and strategic issues
·Must be hands-on and directly involved with all levels of the distribution center
·Should have experience utilizing automated systems and equipment including EDI, RF equipment, automated conveyer belts and forklifts
·Must be proficient in planning, forecasting, budgeting and scheduling

At least 10 years of management experience required

D. Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the essential duties of this portion, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods of time, use hands, reach with hands and arms and talk or listen. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate business office level. May be required to lift at least 30 lbs.
