Director, Mutual Fund Auditing

Group Overview:


The objective of the Internal Audit Department, as designated
representatives of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, is
to ensure that the risk management framework and internal controls of
the Charles Schwab Corporation optimally serve the interests of the
firm's many stakeholders. Our teams are aligned with all of the
enterprises and business lines, including all subsidiaries. We work
in conjunction with other Oversight groups (i.e. Compliance and
Legal) and report internally to the audit committee and other
oversight committees and externally to our public accountants and
regulators, principally the FRB.



Responsibilities:


Key contributor position working with corporate enterprises which
manage fund products. This includes proprietary products as well as
those offered via open architecture platforms, with particular
emphasis on registered mutual funds.


Position involves:

Consultation w/business unit/risk mgrs to build/enhance
infrastructure to manage risks associated with a dynamic business
environment

Developing and executing relevant audit engagements in
varying sizes & complexity

Integration of real-time industry benchmarking & best
practices through ongoing research & industry affiliations

Presentation of synthesized audit findings to key
stakeholders

Follow-up of agreed-upon resolutions of audit findings;
providing creative & innovative analyses & best practice solutions

Development and support of presentations for executive
management and fund trustees


Qualifications:


Requires eight years+ of relevant experience and solid career
progression, preferably in a large mutual fund or other global
financial services environment
Strong knowledge of fund administration, portfolio management,
analytics and trading activities
Extensive experience with the Investment Company Act of 1940
and related internal controls and risk management
Demonstrated ability to manage professional staff and interact
with management and key participants in fund governance
Demonstrated risk management expertise in analyzing business
risks and processes, identifying risk management weaknesses,
and collaborating with management to develop and implement
innovative solutions
Must possess excellent teamwork, interpersonal and (oral and
written) communication skills, and have a strong record of
influencing senior management and leading change
MBA or CFA desirable
Some travel may be required

context of business/industry evolution and benchmarks
Successfully execute against a risk based audit plan and
present and syndicate audit review results and control issues
with senior management
Strong working knowledge of mutual fund operating and
regulatory environment
Experience with Alternative Investments a plus
Sound demonstration of success and flexibility in an key
contributor role
