Our portfolio includes Sylvan Learning Center, North America's largest and most trusted network of tutoring centers, providing supplemental, remedial and enrichment instruction; Hooked on Phonics, delivering highly regarded early reading, math and study skills programs; and Catapult Learning, a leading provider of educational services to public and non-public schools.We are currently seeking a Director of HRIS & Payroll to join our corporate human resources team.This position brings customer service leadership to the payroll and HRIS process through measurement and improvement of service levels to a broad organization. The position directs the administration and operations of the HRIS and payroll function for Educate, Inc. and Laureate Education, Inc., serves as the HR process leader in support of the business systems supporting HR, and insures compliance of all processes.Essential Functions Measure and improve service levels to the payroll and HRIS functions, bringing customer service leadership to the team.
Perform audit, reconciliation and financial analysis functions for payroll and HRIS applications.
Investigate and implement process automation and improvements to payroll and other related functions.
Perform all compliance for payroll including final check requisition, pay frequency, overtime calculation, terminal benefit, FLSA, and year-end processes.
Lead the design, development and implementation of all HRIS-related solutions.
Serve as primary client-facing engagement leader and accountable for all HRIS and payroll related clients to the business units. Act as an advocate for employees in all payroll related transactions.
Manage HRIS and payroll-related vendors ensuring we have good relationships and are fully utilizing the services they provide.
Through staff, oversee payroll activities for over 15,000 employees including US, Canadian and International employees.
Responsible for design and support for HRIS business processes and supporting module elements including payroll, time and expenses, benefits and employee self service and related business processes.
Manage the background check process.
Manage the payroll tax process.
Working through multiple business units and HR staff with varied needs to develop and implement project plans and processes.
Oversee the capture and data management of employee data ensuring timely processing and data integrity.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum job requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or related field with at least 10 years of progressive HRIS and high volume payroll experience and 4 or more years at a management level. A Masters degree and applicable certifications are preferred, as well as familiarity with Canadian and International payroll and tax elements. Strong project management, customer service, interpersonal, and communications skills are required. Project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential. Prior experience with databases, Crystal Reports and Ultimate Software or other payroll system is required. The individual must possess skills in the following areas: Application testing, configuration and deployment

Ability to diagnose system problems through discussion with users including research, resolution, isolation and results
