RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director Financial Research & Reporting is responsible for providing timely, relevant financial and analytical information, which is necessary to make informed business decisions and to prepare and support quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes. The Director Financial Research & Reporting reviews quarterly financial statements and analytical review and ensures that the disclosures included in company´s financial statements are appropriate and sufficient to meet SEC and GAAP disclosure requirements. This position must keep current on new GAAP pronouncements and SEC regulations as they are released and continuously assess the impact to the company of changing accounting practices. The Director Financial Research & Reporting develops standards for the quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), continually recommending and driving improvements to its content and format. The Director Financial Research and Reporting drafts the MD&A for the Company´s quarterly and annual reports. The position is also responsible for maintaining 5 years of historical comparable financial statements and other relevant financial information. This position must understand the implications of changes to the company´s financial statements and general ledger and the interrelationships of various accounting and reporting systems.
The Director Financial Research & Reporting is viewed as a technical resource across various Finance and Business functions and recommends changes to policies to meet business needs as necessary. The position requires a bachelor´s degree in Finance and Accounting or related field, CPA and prior experience with the preparation & analysis of all GAAP and SEC reporting including consolidations, MD&A, notes to financial statements, 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K filings. The position requires 8 years combined public accounting and corporate experience. MBA in Finance or related field and experience with Oracle Financials is highly desired. This position requires the ability to collaborate cross- functionally on complex issues driving to timely resolutions, the ability to present, organize, and convey complex problems or issues within and across other functions, strong teamwork, organizational skills and ability to drive results in a timely manner, attention to detail and high degree of accuracy required.Key Accountabilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis: 45%Manage GAAP Reporting and disclosure compliance. Perform detailed first-level review of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and analytical review.
Prepare quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis including coordination with Corporate Communications and Legal
Develop and publish monthly management reports and analytical analysis of monthly performance for managementCoordinate quarterly and annual updates to Internal Controls questionnaires by operating departments and evaluate any control weaknesses to allow for corrective action prior to quarter-endMaintain 5 years of historical comparable financial statements and related information
Coordinate with Accounting Operations on an ongoing basis regarding significant accounting transactions to allow for adequate review of reporting and disclosure implications.
Finance Research: 30%On an on-going basis, review new and emerging accounting standards and interpret, and communicate business impact of these changing standards on the external financial statement and disclosures. Assess the impact to Visa and develop position paper for new GAAP pronouncements within 30 days of issuance of new pronouncements.
Coordinate with Accounting Operations to develop and execute implementation plans for new GAAP pronouncements where applicable.
Maintain current knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and actively incorporate into financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
Perform ongoing key financial ratio analyses vs. competitorsWork with Financial Planning to ensure that budget impacts of changing accounting standards are identified and communicated to operating managers
Ensure that quarterly financial statements incorporate the impact of all relevant changes in accounting standards
Document internal processes and accounting issues
Participate in special projects designed to evaluate alternative accounting treatment of various contracts or business activities
External Audits Participation: 15%Coordinate the timing of external audit quarterly reviews and coordinate preparation of supporting information with Finance Operations and other departments as necessary, ensuring timely quarterly and annual audit sign-off
Coordinate printing and production of quarterly and annual reports
Professional development: 10%Use sound judgment in making day to day decisions with minimum guidance from manager
Increase knowledge of Visa operations
Attend seminars or classes to continuously increase and expand skills
