Director - Credco, Funding

Primary responsibilities include ensuring appropriate accounting, controls and reporting for Treasury transactions primarily related to debt issuances and transfers of financial instruments, participating and liaising between corporate Treasury Controllership and the Company's banking subsidiaries on ad hoc projects and quarterly closing process; preparing analyses as part of the quarterly closing process for the debt and interest expense areas; assisting with Treasury Sarbanes Oxley process implementations for new transactions and control testing for existing processes; researching new technical accounting and financial reporting issues as it relates to debt and investments. Additional responsibilities will include creating, updating and monitoring compliance with accounting policies in the Treasury area; supporting Treasury Six Sigma initiatives, facilitating comfort letter procedures and debt issuances from a Controllership perspective, and developing other team members. The incumbent will have successful relationships with business partners (e.g. AXP's banking subsidiaries, Enterprise Risk and Assurance Services, Financial Reporting, Legal and Tax).Job Requirements Bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance
 CPA preferred
 6-9 years experience in finance and accounting
 Familiarity with investment, debt, and transfers of financial instruments (FAS 140) accounting, and SEC reporting requirements preferred
 Understanding of COSO and related control framework
 Good, collaborative, relationship building experience
 Good communication and organizational skills
 Knowledge of capital markets and comfort letter process a plus
