Responsibilities include some or all of the following:

The Credit Review Department is responsible for helping to ensure governance and quality of credit risk management enterprise-wide.



Director of Statistical Analysis performs advanced level and/or managerial professional Credit Review work in large and diverse lines of business. Analysis of specialty areas of the highest complexity, including conversions, consolidations, acquisitions and new businesses based on extensive experience in reviewing a variety of business situations and conditions is also required. Work involves managing or conducting projects relating to identification, measurement and mitigation strategies of credit, operational, financial and compliance review.



This position will be responsible for developing an understanding of the statistical needs of Capital One and recommending systematic improvements across the organization. This work will require being a technical consultant; assessing the current business environment and building solutions to both stated and actual needs. Solutions must be technically solid yet work within the many constraints of the current business.



A Director of Statistical Analysis builds and maintains relationships with the line management, and complies with organizational and professional ethical standards. The Director also provides major input to the development, maintenance of and changes to the annual Credit Review Plan and risk assessments. The Director provides training, coaching and supervision to an internal staff of analysts.



The Director works independently under general supervision, and is able to exercise extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:



Advanced degree in statistics, economics, or biostatistics with 5+ years of applied experience

Accomplished user of classic statistical tools (for example, linear models, logistic regression, hypothesis testing, sampling)

SAS programming, solid on data step and several of the advanced statistical procedures, familiar with macros

Superior communications skills

Broad knowledge of the standard canon

Ability to create and lead complex projects



Preferred:

Ideal candidates for this position will also have excellent teaching skills and extensive experience in leading change in complex business environments
