COST ACCOUNTANT

We are seeking a SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT to join the growing team of an industry-leading Roanoke, VA area client. This position provides excellent exposure and a solid career path. Summary: Focus on analyzing and monitoring manufacturing cost. Participate in new product costing and cost saving projects.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Provide maintenance of fixed and variable operating cost allocations by properly analyzing overhead rates, structure, absorption and related variances monthly.
· Verify integrity of standard costs by reviewing bills of material and routings for accuracy, and a variety of other related duties.
· Prepares monthly analysis for operations, takes a proactive approach to identifying variances, communicates findings and possible resolutions to operations/organization.
· Coordinate new product costing and cost saving projects and daily plant transactions.
· Preserve integrity of the general ledger (analysis and interpretation)
· Participate in preparation of annual budgets (capital and operations)
· Provide insightful financial analysis, support and strategic advice related to business activity.
· Assist in development of analytical approaches and assess data requirements in order to complete analysis in a timely and effective manner.
· Assist with the development and implementation of internal control and alternative accounting methods.
· Assist in month-end closing activities.
· Complete other ad hoc projects and analysis as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
* BS in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field Required
* 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment required.
* CPA and/or MBA a plus !
* Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize in a multi-task environment; must be a self-starter
* Ability to track projects through to completion
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written), with ability to communicate with all levels of staff members
