Controller (SS)

Classification: Full Time Compensation: Pay up to $115000 per year The position is one of two managerial positions reporting to CFO in overseeing a department of approximately five project accountants and an AP/AR group of four.
Project accountant positions are structured to provide full service financial support for assigned projects except A/P and A/R. This includes G/L accounting, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, lease administration, long term projections and tracking related to the debt and equity structures.
Key areas of oversight responsibility are to assure:
•Fundamental accuracy of accounting records and analytical work
•Timely and accurate monthly reporting of financial results to investor clients
•Timely and accurate budgeting for operating properties
•Sufficient monitoring and planning for cyclical processes (monthly close and reports, budgets, rent settlements, year end audits, etc.)
•Efficient and effective procedures and controls
•Effective training and mentoring of staffThis position has responsibility for coordinating financial and operating expense audits, negotiating fees, reviewing audit workpaper packages prepared by project accountants, and assuring the satisfactory and timely completion of the audits.Our Client is very involved in major transactions (sales, purchases, debt and/or equity restructurings). This position plays a key role in assuring the quality of the accounting support for these transactions and the smooth transition after the transactions are completed. This involves flexibility in servicing the varied and often demanding requirements of major institutional investors.This position also has oversight responsibility for other misc. functions such as handling tax notices, property tax appeals, billing for engineering and porter hours, annual entity filings, etc.Accounting Dept. and this position have heavy interaction with other key departments: Property Management, Asset Management, Development, and Leasing.
