Assists in the maintenance of accurate accounting records and in the preparation of financial statements, and reports.
This manager will be responsible for the accounting and management reporting functions. S/he will also be responsible for developing and managing key processes to ensure controls areas are adequate and effective.
In addition to the accounting and management reporting functions, this position leads executive-level projects that may include, but are not limited to identifying needs, developing recommended solutions, determining appropriate course of action and making executive presentations to senior management.
Essential Job Functions
Extensive GAAP Experience
Compiles information from various departments and prepares appropriate journal entries.
Maintains and assists in the development of automated accounting systems and procedures.
Prepares commission and special accounting reports for management.
Answers inquiries regarding accounting procedures, policies and problems from both internal personnel and outside regulatory agencies.
Processing bills, preparing journal entries of adjustments to billings and communicating with customers regarding billing adjustments.
Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
Managing the department responsible for reconciling and reporting daily and monthly P&L of the desk including accrual analysis, significant transaction reviews and understanding valuation methodologies.
Supervising the accounting acquisitions and sales reconciliation teams.
Managing and Developing Staff
Position is responsible for successfully managing and developing a staff. This includes:
Recruiting and hiring the right people for the permanent and temporary assignments resulting in a strong team with complementary strengths.
Delegating and prioritizing responsibilities as appropriate, empowering others and monitoring progress.
Accurately assessing strengths and development needs of employees and ensuring training and development opportunities are provided.
Providing specific feedback and coaching to staff and rewarding excellent performance.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements/Skills:
Education:
College degree in accounting or related area or equivalent preferred
CPA required
Experience:
5-7 years experience in a public accounting firm and/or corporate accounting function
Demonstrated experience in successfully managing and developing teams of clerical and accounting professionals.
Good working knowledge of GAAP
Good communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with executive management
Proficient in accounting applications
Proven financial analysis experience
