Controller - Fenwick High School - Oak Park, Illinois

GENERAL DESCRIPTION and BASIC FUNCTIONS: Fenwick High School, a Catholic college preparatory school for 1150 young women and men, located in the lovely village of Oak Park is seeking an experienced Controller. This position will report to the Vice President of Administration/Finance and will have oversight for the school’s $12million budget. This individual will have fiduciary stewardship of all funds managed by the organization, safeguarding all its financial assets, and developing long range financial planning. The position involves supervision over general accounting, auditing, budgetary controls, cash management, and investment funds. The Controller will also be required to prepare and present periodic reports to the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, and Executive Committee.
REQUIREMENTS
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Creating and leading all financial planning and analysis activities • Establishing and monitoring internal financial controls • Supervising daily operation of all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payables/receivables, and payroll • Administering all budgeting and purchasing procedures and controls • Overseeing the investment and loan portfolio • Implementing and monitoring an effective tuition collection policy and process • Collaborating with Senior Management and Department Heads in the development of annual organization and departmental budgets process • Collaborating with the Director of Development in the management, accounting, and record keeping of all funds associated with the Development Office • Implementing and executing reporting guidelines for all funds, including current operating funds, development funds, endowment funds, and the 403b plan. • Working with independent auditors, financial institutions, and external vendors as required • Preparing and analyzing cash flow and forecast projections • Generating monthly financial reports for Senior Management • Managing year-end financial statement preparation • Ensuring expenditures are within the standards set by the organization (monthly variance reporting) • Ensuring that shared cost allocations are properly reported • Ensuring compliance with record retention guidelines • Supervising accounting , tuition collection/financial aid staff • Performing other duties the President or Vice President may assign Requirements • B.S. Degree in Accounting and a minimum of five (5) years experience. • Excellent organizational skills, high degree of accuracy, and attention to detail • Strong communication skills with a team-oriented approach and proactive attitude • Excellent analytical and presentation skills • Ability to work flexible hours when required Preferred • Working knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge Accounting Software • Non-profit accounting experience
