Compensation and Benefits Manager

U.S. HealthWorks is one of the nation's largest providers of occupational medicine and urgent care services. We are currently seeking a Benefits Manager.

• Manages the Compensation and Benefits administrator and coordinates all aspects of the planning and administration of employee compensation and benefits. Provides decision-making authority on compensation and benefit plans and issues.
• Confers with management concerning program structure and expenses. Collaborates to identify, analyze and develop a total rewards approach to attract, retain and motivate employees.
• Analyzes and evaluates services, coverage and options available through various benefit vendors to determine programs best meeting needs of organization. Negotiates and contracts for services.
• Manages the process of providing information to employees; provides policy interpretation on compensation and benefits questions and issues.
• Maintains knowledge of and analyzes government regulations, trends and prevailing practices among competitor organizations. Audits compensation and benefits plans for compliance with government regulation. Directs corrective action where appropriate.
• Oversees the maintenance of operating and capital budgets. Exercises the usual authority of a manager concerning performance improvement plans and reviews, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential.
• Directs the design, development, implementation and administration of compensation and benefit plans throughout the Company. Ensures that all plans and programs are aligned with corporate strategies and facilitates change process.
• Certifies that compensation and benefits systems are progressive, competitive, motivational, and allow for pay for performance in a cost-effective manner.
• Approves 401k processing of loans and hardship requests. Also serves as the liaison between the associates and the 401k carrier. Handles quarterly open enrollment. Oversees 401k discrimination testing annually.
• Participates in the coordination of Family Leave Programs and supports and develops policies and guidelines consistent with FMLA (and state laws), other related Employment legislation and The Company’s mission and past practice.
REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to plan, direct, supervise and evaluate subordinate staff
• Thorough knowledge and administration of compensation and benefits regulations and government reporting requirements.
• Knowledge and skill in preparing and monitoring health care and other benefits budgets
• Ability to make presentations before employee organizations, advisory bodies, county employees and others
• Knowledge and skill in analyzing and making recommendations for policy and rate changes;
• Ability and skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with employees, managers, brokers, agents and other contractors; negotiate and administer contracts and agreements with insurance companies, claims and program administrators, consultants and others;
• Knowledge and ability to analyze and interpret insurance contracts, legal documents and reports
• Ability to collect, evaluate and interpret data; evaluate compensation and benefits program policy and practices, define problem areas, develop and direct the implementation of policy decisions and practices to improve operations
• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing; develop and control a budget.

EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in business or related field

EXPERIENCE
• Five years of professional experience in developing and managing compensation and benefit programs; health insurance plan management experience including rate and contract negotiations with insurance carriers and consultants, and coordination with provider organizations and Third Party Administrators is desirable.
• Principles and practices of management including program planning, implementation, administration and evaluation; current trends and issues related to compensation and benefit programs; contracting processes and administration; general accounting and recordkeeping methods for claims administration; data processing applications for management information systems; principles of supervision; employer group insurance and indemnity plans, and available coverage; State and Federal laws and regulations relating to employee benefit administration, health plan administration, and Health Maintenance Organizations; budget preparation and monitoring practices.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or PHR/SPHR credential highly preferred
