Coding/Auditing Consultant

Besler Consulting, a leading healthcare finance and operations consulting firm based in NJ is currently seeking a dynamic and detail oriented healthcare consultant to complement the Coding/Health Information team.

The successful consultant must have experience with federal regulatory and compliance requirements, including Medicare Carrier and Intermediary rules, Correct Coding Initiative, and OIG Workplan Initiatives is essential. The incumbent should also possess a solid background working open and closed medical records, PATH audits, and evaluation and management coding. A working knowledge of DRG/APC coding and Medicare reimbursement methodologies as well as a thorough knowledge of documentation, coding and compliance guidelines is required.

The candidate must also exhibit the aptitude to work independently as well as with a team, demonstrate initiative and have good judgment in planning and decision making. Must also possess the ability to analyze issues utilizing superior problem solving skills and write professional reports.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have certification in any or all of the following areas, RN, RHIT, RHIA, CCS and/or CPC (or any combination), with at least 5-7 years experience in hospital coding or consulting experience. This person must also possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9 coding guidelines and thorough knowledge of UB-92 requirements. Previous auditing and familiarity with CMS and Fiscal Intermediary program memorandum/transmittals/manuals a plus. The incumbent must also possess excellent computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint. A BS, BA or other relevant degree is required. This position will require travel.
