Chief Financial Officer/Controller

Headquartered in Valencia, California, the company is a $40 million business operating in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties. The company is a very strong competitor and well respected concrete-structures contractor. The company will be pursuing an aggressive strategy to increase market share and maintain superb profitability, while focusing efforts on the development of its back-office operations.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the President, the CFO/Controller will mentor and supervise accounting and IT staff, including “dotted-line” authority with the HR staff. Critically important to the role of CFO/Controller is to be a confidant to the president and general manager in various financial and administrative areas. This person will work with the current controller to establish and help maintain a financial record system in accordance with GAAP; coordinate and evaluate all financial reporting; standardize policy and procedures; provide reports comparing various factors affecting price and profitability; ensure compliance with all taxing authorities; conduct operational effectiveness reviews; participate in the planning and budgeting processes; and advise management on the underlying budget forecasts and assumptions. The CFO/Controller will have the primary responsibility to keep the owner and management staff informed of all key financial developments.


Compensation

This position is critical to the company. Accordingly, a competitively based salary and performance bonus is offered with other customary benefits awarded to such staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned CFO/Controller or senior financial manager who understands the key benchmarks for success bringing the full breadth of technical skills in construction-related accounting and some IT skills to the firm. This person must have the ability to foster a cooperative team-oriented work environment; be an analytically strategic thinker; and provide consultative support regarding financially-oriented operating procedures in concert with any new or amended policy to various other areas of the business. A CPA and MBA are highly desirable. Good common sense, a strong work ethic, self-motivation, a high level of integrity and excellent communication skills are required to be considered in this team-oriented production-driven culture.
