Business Unit Financial Manager

Zygo Corporation headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut, is a worldwide supplier of optical metrology instruments, precision optics, and electro-optical design and manufacturing services, serving customers in the semiconductor capital equipment and industrial markets.

In this position you will report to the CFO and act as the primary liaison between the finance organization and individual manufacturing business units, supporting two business unit managers.

You will direct the activities of the cost accounting staff and be involved in establishing manufacturing standards, preparing budgets, forecasts, and directing the preparation of business unit financial reports. You will also determine procedures to accurately measure operating costs and will work closely with senior management in preparing analysis of the data. You will work as a member of the finance team on strategic business issues as well as daily operational issues and manufacturing cost reduction goals. You will interact with all levels of management throughout the company.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is required (an MBA would be a plus) in addition to a minimum of 8 years experience in a financial role in a manufacturing environment. Experience will include budget preparation, forecasts, comparative analyses to actual results in a manufacturing environment, and inventory management with an emphasis on lean manufacturing. An in-depth working knowledge of all aspects of manufacturing costs, including but not limited to standards, PPV over/under absorption, transfer pricing and factory reserves (i.e. warranty, E&O) is required. Experience with government contracts a plus. Excellent communication skills, the ability to provide clear and concise reports to management, and strong PC skills including integrated manufacturing systems are required. Physical requirements: walking, standing, sitting, climbing a ladder and keyboarding.
