Job Description

IPG-IT Reference Data Analyst provides leadership and creating business value by supporting IT initiatives tightly coupled with business initiatives, while driving down costs. Partnering closely with business partners and IT teams to develop and manage reference information that will be applied in both operational and business intelligence systems. Develop and continuously improve the reference data system by applying sound IT processes and methods, delivered through a top notch IT team. The analyst is part of a success oriented culture around a cohesive and high performance team that delivers reference data solutions reliably, on-time, and every-time.



The analyst is responsible for helping build and extending technology solutions focused specifically on Reference data. The analyst will be part of a team responsible for the development and enhancement of the reference data for use throughout the IPG-IT and leveraged across HP. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to requirements analysis, data analysis (conceptual, logical and dimensional data model creation) and development of solutions. The analyst is responsible for working with project development teams to determine requirements for reference data and integrating these requirements into the enterprise reference data structure.

The analyst educates clients (management and staff) to allow them to make good business decisions about how to model the activities of the business into Reference Data. The analyst investigates many topics with the purpose of gaining an understanding of all sides of the problems involved in building applications which perform tasks for business. The analyst uses this understanding to properly guide development of reference data solutions to solve needs for other development organizations.

The system analyst takes a unique role in developing solutions. The analyst must have knowledge of both business and technical systems. The analyst often spends time investigating a business process to understand how the data and communications flow with individual tasks and transactions.

One key role for the analyst is to remain current with many technical systems and tools. The analyst must keep in touch with emerging solutions and evaluations of new business needs. The analyst must be able to correctly recommend and model reference data solutions which will work together with other IT systems. Failure in this area will create significant impacts to operational and business intelligence systems. The analyst must have a broad understanding of data management. The analyst must understand how data flows through an organization and which people should have the right to modify data, where read-only access should be invoked, and where data is to be sequestered.

The analyst must be an excellent communicator and organizer. The investigative process often generates large amounts of information about an organization, the people, data, and processes. The analyst must be able to draw back and make a simplistic picture which accurately captures the overview.
REQUIREMENTS


QualificationsBachelor's (undergraduate) degree in computer science, information systems,
electrical engineering or equivalent experience Five or more years of demonstrated analysis experience Proficiency in the following is required: Large scale systems initiatives Knowledge of reference data in a large enterprise environment Data modeling (logical, physical and dimensional modeling) Data source analysis and ETL (Informatica) Databases (Oracle and MS SQL Server) UNIX Data warehousing End-user reporting tools Experience in project management is desirable A record of successful participation and leadership of teams A good knowledge of the business workings and functions Experience with business plan development, full software development life cycle (SDLC), software development, testing methodologies, and selling of solutions Strong communication and negotiation skills Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, self-confidence
