Business Solutions Analyst

The successful analyst supports the Executive Leadership Team, Business Leadership Team, key decision makers, and operational managers through the use of the Cognos suite and other prescribed applications to provide OLAP capabilities, scorecarding, dashboarding, effective queries, process improvement, and decision support.High-quality interaction with both business unit and I. T. associates is required to develop productive relationships that lead to creative, efficient information-based solutions to business needs.The analyst provides technical and business guidance to teams and individuals within the corporation.
Self-starting individual contributor and / or team leader who employs Cognos (OLAP/PowerPlay cubes, Impromptu reports and scorecarding) and Microsoft tools to solve business needsProductively interact with subject matter experts as well as management from the ELT to operational managers to elicit business needs and produce clear, complete project scope and requirements proposalsDemonstrate the confidence to recommend alternatives when others have the answersCapable of identifying, scheduling, and communicating project priorities, deliverables, milestones and tasksCapable of imagining and providing in-depth data research to prove solutions and validate problems for peer MIS and DBA follow-upRepresent business unit associates by clearly communicating business needs, required technical activity, and data[base] enhancements to peer MIS team members and IT’s DBA groupBring technology improvements and industry developments to business initiatives and to business unit leadersDevelop, enhance, test, support, document, and maintain reporting utilizing Cognos 7’s Upfront, Impromptu, PowerPlay and Metrics Manager; Cognos ReportNet and the Cognos 8 Suite; and MS Excel and AccessReceive consistent recognition from end users for exemplary availability and supportPerform ad hoc work as directed by operating clients, the CFO, VP MIS, and VP ControllerPossess fundamental knowledge of and compliance with good Internal Control practices; suggest Internal Control improvements in current job and in processes run by othersParticipate in teams chartered to adopt best practices, improve processes and cross-train in the departmentMaintain a high level knowledge of process improvement technology

REQUIREMENTS
Require two years experience with Cognos Series 7 tools; Impromptu, IWR, PowerPlay, Transformer, Metrics ManagerRequire one to two years experience with SQL for Oracle and SQL serverMust have strong understanding of I.T. project life cycle methodology; prefer experience with Cognos ReportNet and / or the Series 8 suiteThree years experience with data warehouse and database architectureExperience with information architecture and interface usabilityPrefer experience within the mortgage/financial industryProven ability to lead and motivate team members in fast paced environmentExcellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skillsStrong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilitiesStrong quantitative and analytical skillsProficient in MS applications: Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and VisioA college degree in a related area; 2-4 years experience in technology and/or Financial Services required
