UBS is a leading global financial services firm. Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.The UBS Investment Bank Enterprise IT Credit Risk Control (CRC) department is seeking candidates for a Business Analyst role. The CRC department is responsible for controlling the exposure that UBS has to its counterparts. CRC has a number of initiatives in progress to continually improve financial exposure measurement and control processes and must also respond to New Business Initiatives driven by other functions within the firm. These encompass short-term projects and long-term programs designed to address the demanding requirements of a dynamic financial institution. The Business Systems Analyst will take responsibility for the Front-to-Back IT analysis associated with New Business Initiatives, especially those driven by Front Office revenue-generating businesses i.e. Fixed Income, FXCCT and Equities. Current initiatives include Emerging Markets, new products and new services (e.g. Hedge Funds and Prime Brokerage). This is a broad, challenging role that requires a combination of business awareness, product knowledge and technical know-how coupled with strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.The scope of this role includes: Working closely with CRC and other departments at various levels of seniority to drive the high-level functional requirements. Following the high-level requirements through to a detailed level that would enable systems development to progress. Working closely with all IT teams as the primary consultant on the requirements throughout the development period. Active participation in the User Acceptance Testing period to confirm the solution prior to deployment to production.To be effective in this role the candidate must: Be structured and systematic in their approach. Have strong analytical and strong interpersonal communication skills. Have relevant business experience in Financial Services, for example within a Credit Risk or related role or having performed a Business or Systems Analyst role within a relevant business function. Have strong numeracy and be financially awareness. Have experience of Business Process Analysis and Modelling - ideally using UML. Have experience of Data Analysis and Modelling; particularly in relation to Risk Management or Financial product processing. Have experience of 'reverse-engineering' system functionalities to identify scope of change requests. Be able to "prototype" potential solutions with technology commensurate with the analysis e.g. MS Office products, SQL, Unix. Be able to manage personnel from other areas to ensure analysis is comprehensive and complete. Have experience within an Investment Bank or equivalent Financial Institution. Be familiar with the systems architecture associated with the Risk Management function or Financial Systems in general. Enjoy working to deadlines to realize the business benefits associated with IT projects.The successful candidate will also participate in the Enterprise IT Business Analyst competency group, providing good opportunities to work with other IT Analysts and enhance knowledge of analysis tools and processes. Understand and respond appropriately to internal and external client needs. Identify user requirements by working with a number of key individuals from the business and IT, taking high-level business requirements through to a functional/detailed design specification Contribute to projects being on schedule, meeting client needs and realizing business benefit at the earliest opportunity. Manage client expectations. Take a holistic approach, taking ownership of problems, for example: cross check business-related issues and explore the impact of changes made or required on other systems and business processes. Build relationships and communicate effectively with both IT and business personnel. Contribute as a team player who takes full ownership and responsibility of own work. Work collaboratively with various teams to achieve success. Ensure project, program lead, manager are fully informed of project status including dependencies on other teams and or projects. Contribute to the education and training and assistance of others within the team. Demonstrate a drive and commitment to achieve deliveries to deadlines and to quality Ensure that solution fully realizes the anticipated business benefits Ensure that communication and issue management is clear and concise to minimize management overhead. Manage to eliminate project risks before they become issues. Support less experienced staff by providing technical support and product knowledge. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and awareness of industry best practices. Produce deliverables which comply with UBS standards.Preferred Qualifications:Preferred Skills and Experience Knowledge and experience of the processing of most Financial Products and relevant Investment Banking processes is important Knowledge and experience of the data associated with the processing of most Financial Products and relevant Investment Banking processes is essential Knowledge and experience of Statistical Modelling techniques in the application of Finance is highly desirable Knowledge of Structured Analysis Methodology is essential ideally using UML Understanding of structured testing planning and execution is essential Business requirements analysis (inclusive of documentation and business process modelling) essential, using UML techniques desirable Data modelling essential, with knowledge of CASE tools and object modelling desirable Experience of mathematical disciplines that are applied to Finance is highly desirable Ability to design and use relational databases is essential Ability to prototype aspects of the proposed solution on technology commensurate with the analysis e.g. MS Office products, SQL, Unix is essential Exposure to project management techniques and status reporting is desirable Post-graduate qualification in Financeis a decisive asset Any industry standard Business Systems Analysis qualification would be highly advantageous This is a Stamford based, but may be required to travelIf you are attracted to joining an organization where every individual’s contribution counts and where your talent will impact on our future, please apply for this position. REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering discipline.
A minumum of 3 - 5 years related Technical Business Analyst related work experience.
