Budget and Forecast Systems Administrator

BASIC FUNCTION:The Essbase Administrator will play an active role in the design, implementation and daily support of Hyperion Planning and reporting systems. The analyst will work in a technical environment that is based on a platform of PeopleSoft EPM, Hyperion Essbase and Oracle databases. This position will be a key component of an IPS support team responsible for the integration of a number of critical components, such as financial transactional systems, data warehousing, planning and budgeting systems, etc., that support the delivery of high quality financial analytical data to business users.

DUTIES:
Project Design and Management
1. Participate with other IPS support team members in meetings with business analyst(s) to define the business requirements, determining scope, estimating the effort, and determining duration.

2. Participate with the IPS support team to design and write detailed specifications for new development or enhancements/maintenance of existing systems documenting the requirements using structure charts, data flow charts and other structured design methodologies. Specifications will be based on user inputs, written user requirements and team discussions. Review completed projects with users to ensure requirements are fully met.

3. Based on requirements, define appropriate calculations for key metrics. Identify where data resides and define format requirements for extraction. Coordinate with ERP Warehouse Analyst to export data in required formats (requires relationship development)

4. Maintain consistent delivery of solutions by following development standards and architecture framework, and by following the requirements of the project management methodology for project participation (providing timely, regular updates, etc.).

5. Develop and maintain system documentation for assigned projects/systems.

Hyperion ESSBASE Database Development and Maintenance
6. Responsible for implementation and on going support of the Essbase environment ensuring the technical infrastructure needed for optimum performance of the software.

7. Support and maintain Hyperion Planning/Essbase
• Create calculation scripts (write/maintain/enhance)
• Create load rules Create Esscmd and MaxL scripting
• Create batch scripts
• Develop scripts to automate key processes
• Create backup and recovery strategies for critical ESSBASE applications
• Create security filters
• Import data from multiple disparate systems as required (EPM Data Warehouse, SQL based, flat files, spreadsheets, etc.)
• Data validation to confirm system outputs are correct (data integrity)
• Create custom processes to aid in ESSBASE data validation

Reporting and Other
8. Reporting support and maintenance
• Set up and maintain reporting tools
• Create end-user GUI, utilizing Hyperion tools
• Create user views/screens and drill-downs utilizing Hyperion tools
• Support creation of user defined reports using Hyperion Reports
• Schedule reports for automated production
• Create and maintain custom Excel/VBA reports to support both monthly and ad-hoc reporting

9. Perform other duties related to assigned systems as may be assigned by the Manager, IPS Financial Solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Accounting or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
3+ years of current Hyperion ESSBASE Database Development experience (Hyperion Certified Professional a plus).

• Experience in the development of Hyperion Planning and writing Essbase calculation scripts
• Experience related to Load Rules, Report Scripts, Application Manager, Database Tuning and Optimization, Configuration Settings, Dense/Sparse Outline Configuration, Esscmd and MaxLscripting, Batch Scripting, Automation, Backup/ Recovery, System Monitoring, Security Filters, ESSBASE Functions, and importing data from multiple disparate systems

SKILLS:
Hyperion System 9 Planning
Hyperion System 9 Essbase Analytics and Web Analysis
Hyperion System 9 Financial Reporting

Full working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ESSBASE Excel Add-in (plus ability to assist users with creating their own retrievals) including experience with writing Microsoft Excel VBA and the ESSBASE Excel Spreadsheet Tool-Kit.

JAVA Scripting

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Finance / Accounting background and/or financial reporting experience would be a plus. Must have a good understanding of multi-dimensional database design and be able to work with the IPS support team in translating user requirements into design documents. Must be a team player and work toward a common goal. Ability to work on more than one project at a time is required. Must have excellent communication skills.

Must be able to organize activities in order to function efficiently in a busy environment. Must be able to quickly recognize problem areas and initiate action to solve the problems in coordination with other IPS team members.
