Our client is Howard University Hospital, one of the most comprehensive health-care facilities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area offering the finest primary, secondary and tertiary health-care services.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Starting salary is $75,000 –85,000 depending on background and experience.

Reporting to the Director of Budgeting, the Manager of Budgeting will be responsible for developing and implementing annual budgets, monitoring those budgets on a monthly basis and for the generation and analysis of monthly variance reports.

•Prepares and analyzes annual budgets
•Serves as the primary support person for the organization wide budgeting process. Works closely with the Director of Budgeting to ensure that the annual operating and capital budgets are accurate and complete.
•Assists the Director with the analysis and calculations related to the preparation of the next fiscal year’s annual budget
•Maintains primary responsibility for the functionality and maintenance of the Hyperion budgeting applications. This includes developing an in-depth understanding of current functionality, system capabilities, reporting and updating.
•Reviews and analyzes departmental operating and capital budgets
•Communicates monthly with the Accounting department to obtain finalized monthly financial statements. Loads finalized monthly financial information into the Hyperion system
•Assists the Director of Budgeting with the management of all professional staff persons and outside consultants operating within the budget department
•Makes recommendations for changes in budgeting policy, procedures, classification and treatment as required.

Qualifications:
•BS in Business Administration or Accounting or related field
•Minimum of 5 years directly related experience with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting
•Min 3 years of experience in budgeting or accounting
•At least 2 years at the supervisory level
•Demonstrate knowledge of budget policies and procedures in order to provide technical advice and assistance to executive level and senior level Hospital managers and or directors. Review the development of personnel recommendations, budget recommendation, budget justifications, purchase request, and related supporting documentation
•Familiarity with Hyperion budgeting tools (a plus) and the ability to learn new computerized applications and systems including spreadsheets and databases
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Ability to work under time pressures
•Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with staff, physicians, Hospital and University officials, and the general public..
