Blood Collections Operations Supervisors

We are seeking Blood Collections Operations Supervisors to supervise one or more blood collection operation segments for mobile and fixed site allogeneic and specialized blood products (e.g. apheresis, autologous, directed) to ensure the achievement of annual goals in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible. Supervise implementation of staffing and deployment policies. Contribute to the analysis and remedy of efficiency issues. Provides training in all regulatory requirements and supervises operational staff.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity Potency Purity (SQUIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations.

1. Contribute to the development and implementation of annual operating plans, partnering with the Donor Recruitment Department and Blood Mobile Scheduling Department, to ensure achievement of area blood collection goals and organizational objectives.
2. Contribute to the development of and monitor implementation of local operating procedures, quality control procedures and staff training protocols within assigned area to assure compliance with American Red Cross Blood Services directives, Code of Federal Regulations and all other regulatory requirements.
3. Assists with the evaluation and conducts follow-up investigations or error/accident reports, including staff retraining and counseling, to protect patient and donor safety.
4. Perform periodic operational audits of assigned area to assess efficiency and effectiveness of current methods and improve productivity in support of organizational goals.
5. Supervise assigned staff in accordance with personnel policies and bargaining unit contracts, including evaluating performance, recommending disciplinary actions and providing appropriate input in hiring/firing decisions, to enhance the success of operations and minimize turnover.
6. May assist in writing, organizing and maintaining technical sections of departmental procedure manuals.
7. May assume responsibility of recruiting blood donors.
8. Perform related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, management, related field or equivalent. Minimum three years of progressively responsible operations experience. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, analyze problems, recommend appropriate solutions and assimilate information quickly. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to deal with all levels of staff, hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers and donors.

The duties above indicate the normal functions of this job. Physical requirements are those duties present in normal office environment conditions. The incumbent occasionally, on an unplanned basis, is required to work under conditions where the potential exists to make contact with blood or blood components and/or human body fluids or tissue samples as result of splashes, spills and/or needle sticks.
