Benefits Specialist

Job Summary: Responsible for the administration and maintenance of employee benefits in accordance with government regulations and corporate policies and procedures.

Key Responsibility Areas:
•Coordinate 401(k) enrollments and process loan, withdrawal and rollover paperwork.
•Prepare new hire benefits information and oversee enrollment.
•Transmit and perform audits on electronic eligibility data.
•Track and provide cost analysis and enrollment statistics for 401(k), health benefits and education reimbursement programs.
•Handle benefits inquiries and resolve issues by coordinating with internal and external parties as needed.
•Track, analyze and monitor usage of EAP, work life, wellness and other benefits programs.
•Develop and update all benefits procedures, policies and processes.
•Audit and process benefits billings and invoices.
•Develop, organize and implement wellness and benefits education programs.
•Maintain, review and update benefits related data in PeopleSoft.
•Review and process Education Reimbursement requests.
•Assist in the development and implementation of new benefits programs.
•Conduct focus studies and provide data to Manager, Benefits and HRIS as needed for benefits program recommendations and changes.
•Arrange and conduct employee information presentations.
•Maintain employee benefits records and files.
•Liaison with Payroll for benefits deductions and all other PeopleSoft data.
•Prepare benefits correspondence and coverage verifications.
•Provide electronic notification to vendor of COBRA qualifying events.
•Serve as backup for leave, safety and workers’ comp issues.

Working Conditions:
•Office environment. Interacts with customers via the phone 70% and in person 30%.
•Travel will require visiting sites in 22 state region, different time zones, travel via air and car
•Frequent contact with employees and their families to answer benefits related questionsJob Requirements
Employment Standards

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
•3-5 years of progressive experience in benefits project management and administration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Strong attention to detail
•Thorough knowledge and understanding of benefits laws, rules and regulations.
•Excellent analytical skills needed to define problems, determine alternatives and develop and present solutions.
•Strong negotiation ability.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
•Availability to travel 30%
•Able to work concurrently on many projects
•Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
