Benefits/Payroll Accountant

Duties - Accounts Payable
Establish purchase orders
Post invoices
Reconcile and pay invoices
Reconcile and pay credit cards payments
Maintain accounts payable records
Conduct audits Benefits
Maintain records for and pay vendor invoices
Proof benefits
payment calculations
Audit vendor charges and correct billings
Audit benefits records, invoices and payments Payroll
Provide payroll reports and related documents
Verify and reconcile payroll, employee benefits and fiscally related data
Provide and interpret information pertaining to payroll policies and procedures to District Office employees
Review, monitor and verify the accuracy and completeness of payroll transactions, records and reports
General payroll auditing duties Others
Work with internal and external auditors, and the Office of Finance
Maintain the HR Departmental Budget
Train District Office personnel
Other duties as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting
Three years of accounting experience
Two years of payroll experience
One year of auditing experience



Knowledge
Knowledge of the principles and practices of financial recordkeeping, payroll accounting and auditing; laws and regulations applying to school district payroll accounting and related record management system; standard methods, terminology and practices of bookkeeping, payroll and financial recordkeeping; automated payroll/accounting system; governmental and/or fund accounting experience is preferred.


Abilities
Ability to work under considerable pressure of deadlines and work volume; exercise independent judgment with regard to payroll matters; apply district policies and procedures judiciously; operate standard office equipment; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with those contacted in the course of work. Special Requirement Proficient in MS Office Suite Experience in PeopleSoft HRMS a major plus, but not required Experience in High Education a plus
