Benefits & Compliance Analyst
The selected candidate will research and notify management of federal and state laws impacting employee benefits programs and/or Human Resources policies;
Establishes procedures ensuring compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and regulations.
Provides applicable benefits analysis and benchmarking.
Supports government relations activities to support/oppose pending legislation.
Research current and proposed federal and state laws that could impact the cost,administration or design of employee benefit programs and/or Human Resources policies.
Identify and summarize potential impact of legislation on existing plans and programs.
Work with internal benefits team, legal counsel, and internal audit and outside vendors to establish and maintain policies and procedures to ensure and document ongoing compliance.
Monitor and update procedures and documentation as required.
Provides cost/benefit and statistical analysis to current or potential benefits plans.
Participates in industry surveys and committees to share best practices.
Assist internal and external auditors with all requests for information in order to complete audits, as required.
Act as back-up in communicating benefits and policy changes.
Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
Complete other related duties as assigned and support the Company’s Diversity programs.

job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, related field or equivalent experience
Three years proven employee benefits experience, or equivalent
Strong understanding of benefits-related programs to include group insurance, 401(k), pension, managed care, ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA and FMLA law
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills HSBC Compensation
