Bank Accounting Analyst

Responsible for maintaining the database of unclaimed property. A variety of outstanding unclaimed property items will need to be tracked near real time e.g. Payroll, Accounts Payable, Gift Card, Third Party Benefits etc.Responsible for the due diligence process. This includes facilitating the sending of due diligence documentation with internal parties, and the handling of any resulting communication with external parties.Responsible for state reporting. This includes becoming extremely familiar with individual state reporting requirements in terms of deadlines, dormancy periods, types of reporting, and report formats. Responsibility for facilitating semi-annual system updates for state requirements.Responsible for the monthly maintenance and analysis of unclaimed property General Ledger accounts.Identifies and resolves procedural issues surrounding unclaimed property. Being aware and implementing procedures related to new unclaimed Property types.Reconciles monthly bank statements against general ledger balances utilizing automated or manual processes.Work with internal departments to identify and research discrepancies/aged items and resolve them appropriately.Performs other duties as may be assigned by manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience in a financial institution.Ability to read, comprehend and apply unclaimed property law.Ability to do account reconciliations.Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral, written and listening). Will be required to communicate with numerous people both internally and externally throughout the process.Detail oriented and highly accurate.A great sense of urgency and critically able to work within strictly defined deadlines.Identify potential issues and/or opportunities and problem solving.Navigate and comprehend mechanics of financial systems.Strong analytical skills.Self motivated with the ability to work independently.Demonstrated ability to multi-task (as additional responsibilities will be added to the Unclaimed Property function).Advanced Microsoft Office product knowledgePeoplesoft GL and ReconNet would be a big advantage.Positive attitude
