GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:Primarily responsible for overseeing the fiscal accounting and finance activities of Department of Orthopedics
Ensures compliance with relevant Partners and BWPO administrative, fiscal and personnel policies and procedures. Assists Director in establishing and maintaining departmental fiscal policies, procedures and programs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Works collaboratively with all levels of Department and hospital employees to design, implement and evaluate financial systems to enhance departments fiscal operations.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Fiscal Responsibilities:Oversees all fiscal accounting activities of Department of OrthopedicsPerform financial and accounting activities to satisfy month-end close process.Collaborate and comply with all accounting and reporting requirements of the BWPO, BWH and Partners to insure accurate and timely financial reporting.In conjunction with Department of Orthopedics leadership and Finance Director assist in preparation of the annual operating budgets.Monitors budget performance throughout the year, identifying and reporting variances to the Director and recommend actions to improve performance.Assist Director in development, maintenance, and enhancement of departmental personnel and budget processes/systems.Develops, prepares and submits a variety of regular and ad hoc fiscal accounting reports.Assist Director, Billing Manager and Operations Management to analyze, identify and implement processes and systems to improve billing operations and revenue management.Collaborate and assist physician with fiscal matters.Works directly with managers and directors on preparing budgetary proposals related to special projects, including human resources requirement, implementation of new technology, supply and equipment requirements.Completes special projects as assigned by the Director utilizing standard financial methods such as break-even analysis, cost benefit analysis, regression analysis, trending and forecasting.Works closely with Finance Director and department leadership, staff and other departments, to design, implement and evaluate systems and projects.Serves as departmental resource on all matters pertaining to the financial accounting or record keeping functions of the department.Professional Development:Identifies learning needs and goals and designs a plan to meet them.Maintains and updates knowledge and skills pertinent to duties of position.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree, preferably in accounting (minimum of 3 years in healthcare related finance).
Minimum of two years relevant experience in accounting and finance in health care setting preferred.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:Extensive computer expertise and capability, including spreadsheet, data based, and graphics software.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytic and writing skills.
