Audit Specialist

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve Black & Veatch's operations.

Help the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

This includes planning and executing audits according to the approved audit plan and accepted standards. Works under minimal supervision.

Conducts audits of assigned organizational and functional activities.

Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of the management controls over these activities.

Timely performance and completion of all audit assignments.

Plans the theory and scope of the audit and prepares an audit program.

Decides what auditing procedures to use, including statistical sampling and the use of computer systems.

Plans and executes audits according to the approved audit plan and accepted standards.

Directs and leads audit assignments.

Provides day-to-day direction to Professionals and/or external auditors assigned to or supporting the audit and reviews work for sufficiency of scope, completeness, and accuracy.

Obtains, analyzes, and appraises evidential data as a basis for an informed, objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency of performance of the activities being reviewed.

Prepares and completes various documentation, including financial and audit analyses, schedules, worksheets, memos, and reports.

Evaluates a systems effectiveness and efficiency through the application of one's knowledge of business systems, including financial, construction, engineering, and procurement and with an understanding of auditing techniques.

Makes oral and written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of the examination, discussing findings and recommending action to improve operations, reduce costs, and improve profits.

Prepares formal written reports, expressing opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency with which activities are completed.

Appraises the adequacy of the action taken to improve reported conditions.

Performs special reviews at the request of management and may make presentations to senior management as needed. May help external auditors with their activities.

Makes recommendations for improving Internal Audit¿s policies and practices.
Participates in the development and implementation of the goals, objectives, and work plans of Internal Audit and Black & Veatch.

Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
REQUIREMENTS
The preferred candidate will possess:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a business or technical emphasis. Master Business Administration (MBA)preferred.

6+ years related experience.

Operations experience preferred.

Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
