RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tactical Buyer for Product and Marketing purchasing is responsible for managing the day to day activities to support the purchase of goods and services in the areas mentioned. This person will process Purchase Requests, verifying that all of the appropriate information has been included (and work with the business users if more information is needed), route for legal review if applicable, attach supporting documentation, verify that a valid contract exists, determine if any exceptions to the process have been made and need to be documented, note the terms and conditions of the contract in Ariba, verify that the rates or pricing noted in a Statement of Work is consistent with the rates negotiated, etc. Secondary job responsibilities: The Buyer will renew contracts that are expiring after verifying the need with the business user. He/she will use Ariba Analysis and excel to perform ad hoc requests on spend levels to the business users (training on the job on Ariba, but must be comfortable with computers and analysis). Other activities may include assisting with documentation for audit requests, scanning and attaching documents into the contract management system, assistance on projects for management.
REQUIREMENTS: An undergraduate degree is required. Several years of experience as a buyer or paralegal. Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle a heavy transaction volume. Demonstrated teamwork skills. Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate impact of decisions/initiatives. Strong work ethic. Good communication skills and project management. Should be very organized. Familiarity with purchasing systems and organizational interfaces ideal (including e-procurement and e-RFP tools), or a strong ability with computer systems and ability to learn quickly. Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Excel and Word.
