Summary of Responsibilities, Essential Duties & Expectations: Constellation Energy Commodities Group (CCG) is the marketing and trading arm of Constellation Energy (CE) and is now the leading power marketing company in North America. It manages all CE wholesale trading and risk management activities on a national and international basis, originates long-dated structured transactions and participates in ventures that complement its wholesale energy portfolio, including equity investments in E&P projects. CCG is seeking a qualified lead accounting professional to assist the Director of Upstream Accounting in building a fast paced Upstream Accounting Group. The addition of an Upstream accounting group to the Houston office is essential to support the dynamic growth and diversity taking place in our business. Our business strategy for the Upstream group is to earn a return on equity investments while assuming the role of a non-operator. Our role in the acquisitions is typically to provide risk management, accounting, and operations management services. To execute this strategy, the Upstream associate is typically assigned to track and monitor the performance of the Company’s equity investments in specific acquired properties or ‘deals’. The Associate’s primarily responsibilities include monthly closing, review and analyze financial results on equity properties, inter-company elimination, assets valuation/retirement, budget/forecast, AFE/Capex. Additional responsibility includes but not limits to assisting on financial transactions of deals. This task involves significant interaction with the internal operation teams, outside consulting firm who runs day to day accounting functions (A/P and A/R, etc) and operators.
Qualifications (Experience, Competencies, Skills, Education): Bachelors degree in Accounting (or Finance) with a CPA. MBA preferred but not required. Accounting professional with a minimum of 7 years experience in a public accounting firm (“Big 4” experience desirable with Upstream client experience) and/or in the Upstream industry including experience in financial statement preparation and month-end closing Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Strong analytical background and accounting system knowledge Highly motivated and able to excel in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment Familiarity with commodities, financial instruments, (equity) and derivatives desirable though not required.
