This position will involve working with the US Financial Institutions Group on a broad range of company specific and industry topics with a potential focus on analyzing mortgage related companies and other similar enterprises. Depending upon experience, the position may include lead or back-up responsibility for a portfolio of 12 to 15 companies. The Financial Institutions Group encompasses analysis of banks, brokers, asset managers, consumer finance, commercial finance, leasing, credit unions, savings and loans, and mortgage companies.
Primary duties as a lead analyst will include: conducting onsite meetings with company management; performing analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors; presenting companies to Fitch's internal credit rating committee; communicating ratings and rating rationale to senior management; and writing and publishing research reports. Position will also require active role in assisting in related industry studies. The qualified candidate should have 3+ years of direct experience covering the financial services industry with an emphasis on credit risk. Must be a self-motivated professional who works well in a team environment, must demonstrate strong writing and communication skills, experience with spread sheet creation and analysis, and the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously.
