Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

Primary Job Duties: Manage all aspects of scholarship programs sponsored by the Maryland Higher Education Commission Office of Student Financial Assistance; evaluate student satisfactory progress for continued financial aid eligibility; oversee the appeal process for students deemed academically ineligible for student financial aid; coordinate Federal Work-Study program; serve as liaison for study-abroad students; counsel prospective students regarding the financial aid process individually and in group presentations at university, high school and community sponsored events; support all aspects of the Financial Aid administration as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business, accounting, education, higher education administration or an appropriate student services related field) and 2 years progressively responsible financial aid or related student services experience with solid knowledge of financial aid regulations.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: In depth knowledge and understanding of student financial aid policies and procedures at the state and federal level; attention to detail and strong analytical/technical skills; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative and be willing and able to manage multiple projects with concurrent deadlines in a dynamic environment; excellent organizational, problem solving, independent judgment, and written & oral communication skills; ability to interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of PeopleSoft student administration software and programs sponsored by the Maryland Higher Education Commission are desired.

This is a full-time exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Some weekend and evening hours are required.
