The Assistant Director Business Management identifies areas of opportunity within our information technology (IT) service delivery capabilities and processes through investigation, assessment, measurement, problem determination, and correction. This position requires an extensive understanding of internal information and process flows, informational dependencies, and requirements of IT managers and the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This professional must adapt and develop new tools, techniques, methodologies, and processes to affect departmental improvements. This Assistant Director also assists in the development of IT’s ability to improve business performance through generating information in order to create greater depth, clarity, insight and understanding of the systems and processes which serve as the foundation for IT's services and service delivery capabilities. Responsibilities Manage the continual upgrading of procedures and equipment to maintain currency with technological progress, economic change, and business needs. Prepare the annual budget and manage expenditures in order to operate within approved budget guidelines. Assess courses of action and long-range effects, and recommend innovations to maximize the availability and value of management information for the CIO, direct reports and departmental managers. Consult with mid-level management across the IT organization to identify areas for improving information access, control, flow, and distribution, and reducing information uncertainty. Assist with the costing and pricing development of existing and new service improvement opportunities. Perform competitive analysis reviews with product managers, monitor product mix profitability, and participate in adapting or creating service offerings to match customer needs. Work with group members to identify and evaluate possible solutions, and select the most appropriate ones. Manage the planning of solution development and implementation, seek to proactively anticipate problems before they occur, define the problems, and identify the possible/apparent causes. Ensure that all system-work performed within this group is done in accordance with internal development and quality assurance standards. Manage the training and development of staff members to develop their skills and maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their area of responsibility. Directly and indirectly supervise staff members in the development, implementation, and support of applications to meet the client's business requirements. Recommend the selection of and be responsible for the performance management of staff members. Manage the internal program for the identification, compilation and publication of relevant metrics for IT management and internal customers. Work with managers and customers to maintain the scope of activities to be measured Training managers on program requirements and maintain a roadmap for the development and enhancement of the program. Manage the program for internal customer communications on service level compliance, performance quality, and capabilities. Coordinate efforts of the metrics program and the IT Service Management (ITIL) program. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience approximately 8-10 years of related IT experience advanced training in multiple technology areas a strong background in project planning and project management, financial planning and analysis, and business process re-engineering sound research and analytical skills ability to work on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment excellent management, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills ability to team and communicate effectively with clients and other management personnel
