We help clients with a broad range of business issues, including those related to mergers, acquisitions and restructuring; financial and regulatory reporting; risk, capital and value management; products, markets and distribution; and financial modeling software solutions.

Job Description:

The Life/Financial Services division of Tillinghast is currently seeking candidates for an Actuarial Associate position. Within a multi-disciplinary team you will impact a broad range of financial strategies for leading companies in insurance, banking and investment management industries.

You will learn the fundamentals of actuarial analysis and client relationships with these large companies through meeting with the client and providing the technical expertise they need. We look for more than technical skill. Our clients look to us for advice in areas that require financial analysis, market knowledge and financial acumen.

We want actuaries who can diagnose problems and communicate practical, workable solutions that meet our clients' needs and overall business and financial objectives. As a global firm, our local offices can draw on expertise from our worldwide network providing the opportunity to participate in both domestic-based and global projects.

Responsibilities include:

Working on client engagements as part of a multidisciplinary consulting or joint client-consulting team to analyze actuarial issues and develop value-added solutionsDevelopment of actuarial models, using TAS, MoSes and Microsoft ExcelManipulation of data, using ModelBuilder, Microsoft Access and Excel, for use in actuarial modelsProviding technical assistance for corporate restructuring initiatives (demutualization, mergers and acquisitions, etc…)Assisting with developing of new products for our clientsImplementing programs to enhance capital efficiency and ALM effectivenessDeveloping strategies to improve distribution and sales effectiveness
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

Successful completion of 2-6 SOA exams and be actively pursuing ASA and eventually FSA designation2-4 years work experience in a life insurance company, financial services organization or consulting firm, including relevant internshipsCapability and interest in financial modeling, analysis and management, mergers and acquisitions, capital management, product development, and asset liability managementMastery of mechanics to produce exhibits and analyses with Excel, Access and/or Visual BasicFinancial modeling experience such as Tillinghast Actuarial Software TM and MoSes TMExcellent oral and written communication skillsAn ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, team-oriented and flexible environmentA strong analytical orientationAn ability to manage own time effectivelyKnowledge of life insurance or the broader financial services industry
