This position supports the Chief Actuary by providing regular monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc data analysis to support efforts in determining rate adequacy, compliance with rating and underwriting regulations, development of models for experience rating new and existing group medical business, and providing health plan management with meaningful and easy to understand business management reports.Education/Learning Experience:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
Desired: Some success in the Society of Actuaries Examination program is helpful.Work Experience:
Desired: 1-3 years actuarial analyst experience.Skills/Knowledge:
Required: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
Desired: Some programming helpful. This position involves a lot of routine reporting and analysis, but also requires the ability to work independently and develop ad hoc analysis from the data with a minimum of experience in that particular type of analysis and mostly just a high level objective or question that needs to be answered. This type of ad hoc analysis develops as the candidate’s knowledge of the business and the types of data available increases. It also develops as actuarial techniques acquired in the early Society of Actuaries exams are mastered.
