PurposeAs an Accounting Specialist-Payment Control & Operations , you will supervise a team of nine non-exempt team members supporting payment on account and bank advice functions. Provide leadership, development and accounting support to team while fostering a fast, fun and friendly work environment. Provide backup support to Senior Staff Account function on team.

Creating a superior work environment for team members and support cross-training for career development and promotionPromoting knowledge sharing amongst team members to communicate new processes and best practicesSupervising, controlling and approving financial, payment, and banking adjustments for Target Card and Target Visa Bring responsible for gaining a thorough understanding the Payment Control & Operations processes, specifically understanding returned payments, banking adjustments and SafetyNet debt protection proceduresDirecting and assisting team with daily balancing of advice, deposit matrix and adjustments to accounts, ensuring that process controls are working appropriatelyApproving month-end journal entries in the Lawson General Ledger System and ensuring they meet the requirements of financial reporting and comply with accounting practicesDirecting and assisting team in preparing monthly account reconciliations. Analyzing and reviewing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, corporate policies and generally accepted accounting standardsReviewing and improving processes to create efficiencies, enhance controls, and reduce costsBeing responsible for the achievement of productivity goals for all responsible work and teamResearching and resolving operational issues or errors highlighted by team membersProblem-solving issues and procedures with other TFS teamsAssisting in implementation of new payment initiatives or system enhancements to TSYS, including developing balancing procedures, testing new processes, ensuring accurate implementation and training of Payment Control & Operations team members on new proceduresSupporting accounting process by developing and maintaining spreadsheets for management reporting related to payment and return payment data for Target Card and Target VisaManaging payroll expense for team to budget, including the development of monthly payroll forecast for returned payment and bank advice team members.
Job RequirementsMinimum Requirements: Four year Accounting, Business or Finance degree2+ years of supervisory experienceProven supervisory and personnel development skillsStrong accounting and analytical skillsExceptional leadership and training skillsHigh level of initiative and ability to work well independentlyAbility to manage multiple projectsExcellent problem solving and critical thinking skillsStrong oral and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skillsOutstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict situationsDetail-orientedProficient PC skills (Excel, Access and Word)
