The proposed merger with Golden West Financial Corporation (NYSE: GDW), parent of World Savings Bank, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006, pending shareholder and regulatory approval. With this proposed merger, Wachovia would strengthen its position in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey and New York, and enter attractive metropolitan areas in five additional states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas and Nevada. The combined company would serve banking customers through 3,400 offices in 21 states and Washington, D.C. In addition, Wachovia would gain mortgage lending operations under the World Savings Bank name in 39 states.

Accounting Analyst

In this position, you will be responsible for numerous and varied accounting responsibilities related to the Private Client Group recruiting loan portfolio. This will include expense accruals, loan amortization and allocations to the PCG retail branch network. Responsibilities may also include but are not limited to: reconciliations, variance analysis, research and producing various reports. You will also be involved in the monthly close process for PCG.

REQUIREMENTS
Two plus years’ experience in accounting or finance and a BA or BS in accounting, finance or related field are required. Familiarity with recruiting loans used by brokerage firms would be beneficial. Strong understanding of accounting standards and practices, regulatory rules and constraints is essential. Proficiency in the MS Office is a must. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
