Accountant / Business Analyst

Through wholly-owned companies, Nicor Services also provides products that improve the overall quality and comfort of the air inside homes and businesses.

The Business Analyst conducts day-to-day financial activities in support of financial statement preparations an analysis. Performs economic research activities. Support the Nicor Services Management team.

Primary Responsibilities
* Responsible for monthly closing, including preparation of financial statements; reconciliation of bank reserve accounts, balance sheet & other monthly reserves, variances between the different software packages & the mainframe, coordinating the “close” process with other Nicor Retail Platform accountants.
* Prepare monthly management and ad-hoc research reports.
* Implement accounting policies that include revenue recognition, hedge accounting, natural gas industry specific accounting, software capitalization, deferred marketing costs, etc.
* Becomes familiar with Nicor Services software and how it interfaces with other Nicor systems, reconciles variance between systems and determines which costs should be capitalized based on the Nicor Services capitalization policy.
* Generates financial and variance explanations for corporate and business unit leaders.

Required Experience and Degree(s):
* Bachelors degree required
* MBA preferred
* CPA preferred
* 3 - 6 years of accounting experience

Required Skills:
* Previous accounting experience required.
* Must demonstrate proficient analytical skills
* Self starter
* Strong PC proficiency (MS Office)
* Lawson experience is a plus
