AVP, Assistant Controller
Essential Job Function:
Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the broker dealer. Ensure timely and accurate posting of all transactions. Responsible for account analysis, reconciliations and month end close. Primary responsibility is to maintain the books and records of the broker/dealer, and provide assistance to related areas as needed. Also to assist Corporate Accounting in monthly close and Corporate Reporting requirements. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.Responsibilities:
Daily general ledger review, and daily review of journals and posting. Review all subsidiary ledgers and daily reconciliations. Review corporate general ledger as necessary. Ensure cash is posted timely and accurately.
Manage staff, troubleshoot and provide assistance and guidance to others as required. Special projects on an as needed basis.
Ensure all G/L accounts are reconciled at balance sheet close. Review and approve all monthly reconciliations and account analysis. Note and resolve reconciling items.
Control month end close. Ensure CSC books are closed within the time period allowed. Inform manager timely if unusual items arise. Keep manager informed of month end close progress.
Review desktop procedures, update procedures as necessary. Maintain a complete Policy and Procedures manual for staff. Review staffing requirements periodically.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and AICPA accounting standards, including as they apply to broker/dealers. Ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting policies.Preferred Skills/Education:
Strong accounting background, Big 5 strongly desired. Industry not mandatory
