One of the nation’s largest manufacturers has an immediate and challenging position for an Assistant Controller in downtown Charlotte. The Assistant Controller is responsible to direct all phases of accounting management for business unit(s), partnership(s), or project (s); to review and revise established accounting policies and procedures; to handle special projects requiring research and analysis of complex accounting issues; and for all tasks necessary for the management of a team.Other responsibilities include:
Oversee the accounting for a subset of a functional area.Ensure all recorded transactions are in accordance with GAAP or other required accounting standards.Maintain and establish documented internal controls ad policies and procedures.Manage/Lead/Participate in other Special Projects activities necessary to support the team in delivering or improving Business Unit level reporting.
Identify/evaluate complex technical accounting issues; reach sound conclusions; generate alternatives and understand consequences.Ensure that internal and external audit requests are completed accurately and timely. Hire, supervise, train and develop accounting staff; knowledgeable in the day-to-day functions of direct reports in order to perform their duties, train others when necessary, and troubleshoot issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent to a 4 year degree in an accounting program, CPA with 4+ year’s industry experience or public accounting experience, or non- CPA with 5+ year’s related experience or any similar combination of education and technical experience.2+ years managing and developing professionals.Strong ethical standards; exhibits sound accurate judgment when dealing with routine and non-routine issues.Familiarity and adherence to standard accounting principles; ability to follow established policies and procedures.Strong computer software application skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, and integrated financial system such as CTI, People Soft, and JD Edwards).Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal skills.Proven record of providing excellent customer service.
